Kyosho IGT 1/8 Scale Sedan Spec Class Rules Driving Objective Behind These Rules- Create a spec class for the : 1. Budget minded racer 2. The newcomer who wants to find out what RC is all about 3. The old hand at RC who wants to slow the “gotta have the latest high dollar goodie” 4. And anyone else who wants to avoid all the hustle and/or expense some classes have become This class is for the pure joy of RC racing at the bare bones level .
In an attempt to solidify these requirements the following rules apply: 1. Unless expressly permitted in these rules “IT IS NOT ALLOWED” 2. Kits allowed (Kyosho Inferno GT part #’s, all with GXR28 engine) 31811B - Subaru Impreza WRC 31812B - BMW M3 GTR 31813B - Calsonic 350Z 31814B - Aston Martin DBR-9 31815B -Ferrari F430GT 3. Engines & carburetors must be factory stock. (With the exception of head shim selection/tuning, due to the racer’s fuel of choice. No internal engine modifications are permitted & engines and may be “tech-challenged” at the discretion of the “Race Director” & "Tech Team" at the end of any “Main”. 4. Cars must retain IGT factory exhaust system, with no modifications. 5. Cars must retain Kyosho IGT factory stock flywheels. (No lightening or removal of material permitted) 6. Cars must retain Kyosho IGT factory clutch bell & shoes. (IGT optional carbon-graphite shoes and clutch springs are permitted. No centax or 3 shoe clutch systems are permitted in IGT Spec class) 7. Cars must retain IGT factory 2 speed transmission assemblies & factory available gearing. 8. Only IGT factory available optional “braces”, suspension “blocks” and “sway bars” are permitted. Suspension modifications or “set-up” changes are permitted as long as they are IGT available optional parts. Any Shock & Diff Oil changes are also permitted. 9. Cars must all use Kyosho IGT factory stock “Blue” chassis. (No optional chassis or lightening of stock chassis is permitted) 10. Cars must use “GT Super-Car or Sedan” type bodies with the rear wing available to specific body chosen by the racer. 11. Cars may add a 5th body post and custom foam front bumper to improve body support/protection. 12. Replacing threaded links with turnbuckles.
In other words straight out of the box with the following exceptions: 1. Shock and differential oil may be changed to suit the driver and the track, but you are NOT allowed to change springs or shocks, you must run the stock equipment. 2. Front toe-in may be adjusted. (Rear toe-in is fixed and can’t be changed) 3. Roll center, camber, droop, shock position and ride height may be adjusted using adjustment holes or turnbuckles built into the car. No additional adjustment holes may be added 4. Spacers/shims may be added as needed to remove slop between axles and bearings and between suspension arms and hubs 5. The two speed shift point may be adjusted 6. Radio equipment, receiver, servos and linkage may be changed for aftermarket 7. The four cell alkaline battery holder may be replaced with a five cell NiCAD or NiMH rechargeable battery pack 8. The engine may be started using a bump box. The pull start must remain on the engine and be operational 9. Additional bumper foam may be added as needed 10. Cars may upgrade brake pads & discs. 11. Any combination of the following tires is permitted: Kyosho IGT002-45 V-slick tire (45-shore rating) IGT002-55 V-slick tire (55-shore rating) IGT002-60 V-slick tire (60-shore rating) OFNA: 86504 - 17mm mounted slick on white rims 86505 - 17mm mounted treaded on white rims 86508 - 17mm mounted slick on white rims GRP: GANC0105 - medium compound rally tire mounted on multispoke wheel GANC0110 - medium compound rally tire mounted on dish wheel 12. Replacement bodies must be same general type as the kit bodies. Only wings supplied with the bodies may be used. The following bodies are legal for use: Kyosho: Exact replacement kit bodies OFNA: 31139 - Porsche, 31140 - Celica, 31141 - CLK , 31143 - McLaren , 31144 - Viper
Body Rules 1. Body must be cut on the manufacturer line. 2. You may cut the rear of the body no higher than 1 1/8th” when sitting flat on a surface. 3. Side window may be cut open for fueling. 4. Front window may be cut, but no larger than 3”x3”. 5. Rear window may be cut out. 6. You may cut a hole for the glow plug igniter. 7. Fueling access may be cut but may not connect with other holes. 8. Wing must be attached to the body and not the chassis.
The following race schedule is highly recommended: Two to four qualifying heats of 5 minute duration to determine the starting order for the main. Mains to consist of ten cars with the two lower qualifying positions filled by first and second place of the previous (lower qualifying) main. (The bump up system). Main times to be five to fifteen minutes in length. |
